12 Days of Beverages

The Holidays are HERE!

Get festive with these 12 holiday inspired drink beverages you can enjoy to countdown until Christmas! 

Starting December 12th, we'll be adding a new beverage recipe leading up until Christmas! Make sure to check back every day!

Day 25: Cafe de Olla

This is a staple drink every Christmas morning in our home. This makes the entire house smell amazing, and so festive! Easy to enjoy black, or add milk to make it more creamy.

Here's what you'll need:
  • 3 oz of Brown sugar
  • 4 cups of Water
  • 4 tablespoons of Coffee
  • 2 Sticks of Cinnamon

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Steep coffee with cinnamon sticks and brown sugar
  2. Brew, and enjoy!

Day 24: Nutella Hot Chocolate

Nutella. Enough said.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 cup of milk (we like almond)
  • 2 tbsp nutella
  • 1 tbsp cocoa
  • Whipped cream for garnish

Here's what to do:

  1. Simmer milk over sauce pan, or milk frother
  2. Add 2 tbsp of nutella, and 1 tbsp of cocoa
  3. Pour and add whipped cream
  4. Enjoy!

Day 23: Christmas Punch

This is a kid friendly punch, super easy to make and very festive to have on display at a Christmas party.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 cups of orange juice
  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 cup ginger ale
  • Cranberries for garnish

Here's how to do it:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in punch bowl
  2. Garnish with cranberries

Day 22: Jingle Juice

Get a little extra merry with this adult Jingle Juice! 

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 bottle whipped vodka
  • 1 bottle pink champagne
  • 2 liter bottle of Cherry 7-up
  • Cranberries for garnish

Here's what to do:

  1. Get a large punch bowl
  2. Mix vodka, champagne, cherry 7-up together
  3. Pour into serving glasses or beverage pouches, garnish with cranberries
  4. Enjoy!

Day 21: Crockpot Hot Chocolate

No matter what your grandma's favorite hot chocolate is, the BEST way to make hot chocolate is in a crockpot. If our chocolatey goodness recipe is too much, don't be afraid to just pour milk and hot chocolate mix in a crockpot with marshmallows. 

Here's what you'll need:

  • half a bag of Chocolate chips
  • 1 carton of Milk (We used 2%)
  • 1 carton Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 Abuelita's Mexican Hot Chocolate Disk
  • 1/3 cup of corn starch
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • Whipped cream for garnish

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Pour milk carton and heavy whipping cream in crock pot
  2. Add bag of chocolate chips 
  3. Whisk in corn starch
  4. Add Mexican Hot Chocolate Disk
  5. Top with cinnamon sticks
  6. Leave for 2 hours and stir 
  7. Pour into a mug and add whipped cream or marshmallows

Day 20: Grinch Punch

The Grinch has to be one of my favorite Christmas movies! Whoville definitely has a special place in my heart, so if I can create a beverage that will inspire the little 'Who' in me, count me in! This is a great punch to serve at holiday parties, and you can even add the pre-made drink in our beverage pouches!

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 Hawaiian Punch Green Berry Rush
  • Packet Lemon Lime Kool-Aid
  • 1 container Frozen Pineapple Juice Concentrate
  • 2 liter bottle of 7up
  • Cranberries for garnish
  • Ice

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Mix together 1/4 of the green Hawaiian Punch with the full packet of lemon lime Kool-Aid along with 1/2 of the container of frozen pineapple juice.
  2. Add ice
  3. Add half of the 7up and stir to combine.
  4. Garnish with green sugar on the rim of the glass and cranberries
Day 19: Mexican Hot Chocolate

This is my second favorite holiday drink, ever. You really can't go wrong with Mexican hot chocolate. For those of you who don't know what Mexican hot chocolate is, it's a spiced chocolate drink commonly found in hispanic homes. You can pick up Mexican hot chocolate at any grocery store.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 cups of your favorite milk (we like to use almond, or 2%)
  • 3 triangles of Abuelita's Mexican Hot Chocolate Disks (or Ibarra's works too)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Here what you need to do:

  1. Simmer your milk
  2. Add cinnamon sticks
  3. Break apart 3 triangles
  4. Whisk in hot chocolate triangles
  5. Pour in your favorite Christmas mug.
  6. Enjoy!

Alternatively, you can pour your warm beverages in a blender, or use a hand whisk to froth your drink - making it frothy and creamy!

 

Day 18: Strawberry White Hot Chocolate

Here's a sweet twist to the classic hot chocolate beverage! There are a ton of recipes online, but this is the easiest way to make your drink.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 cups Strawberry Milk 
  • 2 squares of White chocolate (we used Ghirardelli Baking Bar)
  • Whipped Cream for garnish (highly recommend coconut whipped cream from Trader Joe’s)

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Simmer strawberry milk in pot
  2. Add white chocolate and whisk
  3. Pour in your favorite Christmas mug and garnish with Whipped Cream

Day 17: Vodka CranBERRY Merry!

This isn’t a ground breaking new recipe, it’s the ever popular, classic and easy, Vodka Cranberry.
Made with vodka, cranberry juice, splash of lime, and garnished with cranberries. The twist here is to present your drink in a craft ornament!
Here’s what you’ll need:
• 1.5 parts vodka
• 5 parts cranberry juice
• 1 lime wedge
• handful of cranberries
• 1 sprig of rosemary
Here’s how to make it come to life:
1. Add vodka, cranberry juice and a splash of time together then pour carefully into a clean, craft ornament.
2. Place ornament in a clean, clear martini class, add cranberries and a sprig of rosemary to present. 
3. When it’s time drink, just pour ornament over cranberries and rosemary and enjoy!

Day 16: Frozen Hot Chocolate


FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE

If the months each had a mascot, Hot Chocolate would be assigned to December. However, living in sunny SoCal, it's best to always have an iced version of our favorite holiday beverages. Frozen hot chocolate can best be enjoyed in 80 or even 40 degree weather - it's super easy to make and tastes delicious!

Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 packets of hot chocolate mix
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk (we used almond)
  • Handful of ice cubes
  • Chocolate syrup for garnish
  • Mini chocolate chips for garnish
  • Whipped cream for garnish (highly recommend coconut whipped cream from Trader Joe’s)

Here's how to make it:

  1. Blend hot chocolate mix, milk and ice cubes.
  2. Take serving cup and add chocolate syrup on the inside of the glass.
  3. Pour frozen hot chocolate into chocolate glass.
  4. Top with whipped cream.
  5. Drizzle chocolate syrup and add mini chocolate chips over the whipped cream.
  6. Enjoy!

Day 15: Caramel Brûlée Coffee Creamer

Skip the drive-thru line and busy mornings at Starbucks, and make your own holiday inspired creamer!

The best thing about making your own creamer at home is one, being able to control the sweetness of your beverage, and two, being able to share with others without paying an additional $5 per cup.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 tbsp softened butter (sounds crazy, but then again…people drink ”healthy” bulletproof coffee, enough said.)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Mix butter, half and half and heavy cream together
  2. Add in brown sugar and salt, followed by vanilla extract
  3. Add caramel brûlée creamer to a brewed cup of coffee or cold brew.
  4. Enjoy!

Day 14: Snickerdoodle Hot Chocolate

Regular cookies just aren’t enough, we had to make them into a beverage.

Besides the obvious necessities of Christmas movies, and fuzzy TJMaxx blankets, here’s what you’ll need:

  • 4 cups of milk (we used almond)
  • 2 cups white chocolate
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Whipped cream for garnish (highly recommend coconut whipped cream from Trader Joe’s)
  • Dash of Cinnamon for garnish

Here's how ya do it:

  1. Warm up your milk on medium heat.
  2. Add in diced white chocolate pieces.
  3. Whisk until chocolate has melted.
  4. Add vanilla extract and cinnamon.
  5. Pour in your favorite holiday mug (probably will taste better in a snowman or gingerbread…preferably)
  6. Add a mountain of whipped cream, and do not forget the dash of cinnamon
  7. For an extra razzle-dazzle, drizzle some caramel on top. My favorite combination is coconut whip cream, smuckers caramel, and a dash of cinnamon on top.

Day 13: Cookie Butter Latte 

“Too sweet.” “So good!” “Doesn’t taste like cookie butter,” etc. Coffee Bean introduced their cookie butter latte a few years and if you ask around you’ll get a handful of mixed reviews. 

The great thing about making this at home is that you’re able to adjust the recipe as needed. 

Plus, you get to eat a few tablespoons straight from the jar!


Here are the ingredients needed:

  • 1 packet of instant coffee
  • 1 cup of milk (we used almond milk)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cookie butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Whipped Cream for garnish (highly recommend coconut whipped cream from Trader Joe’s)

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Warm up the milk on the stove using medium heat.
  2. Gradually add the cookie butter, and whisk in the vanilla.
  3. Add packet of instant coffee to your your FAVORITE mug, (it’ll taste better with a snowman or Santa on it)
  4. Pour the warm milk over instant coffee
  5. Add whipped cream, and add a dash of cinnamon over the whipped cream

Day 12: Peppermint Mocha

Peppermint mocha can be found in any coffee shop during the holiday season. Using this easy recipe you can fork out a lot of peppermint mochas all season long! Consider this an action item for your Sunday meal prep. This is such an easy way to spruce up your coffee, hot chocolate, or even warm milk!

Peppermint Mocha Creamer

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 3/4 cups milk (we used almond)
  • 14 oz. condensed milk (lechera)
  • 2 tbsp chocolate syrup (necessity in any household) 
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract (easily found in the baking section in any grocery store around the holidays)

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Add all ingredients to a large mason jar.
  2. Put a lid over the jar, and shake, shake, shake.
  3. Use an electric hand mixer to break down the condensed milk.
  4. Add your homemade peppermint mocha coffee creamer and pour over your favorite coffee.
