Though breweries are becoming quite the rave in Ventura County, Kombucha bars are not. That’s why this local Ojai gem is so rare and special to Ventura County. It’s the only kombucha bar in the area!
Now, there’s definitely a select few of individuals who are pro-biotic and pro-kombucha, and there’s definitely a large handful of people who do not like kombucha, or the smell of it. However, if you have tried a bottle of store bought kombucha and didn’t like it, that does not mean you won’t enjoy Revel’s kombucha.
Comparing a store bought bottle and a pint of Revel’s kombucha, simply do not compare.
And for those of you who don’t know what kombucha is…kombucha is a fermented, sometimes slightly alcoholic, lightly effervescent, sweetened black or green tea drink. Majority of people drink kombucha for it’s kick-ass health benefits.
We got a chance to sample a flight on our trip to Ojai. With one skeptic critic we ventured to try the tapped kombucha.
Here are the four we tried:
Pixie by Revel Kombucha Bar:
Made with organic green tea, raw local honey, organic pixie tangerines and jun culture.
L: “It’s pretty sweet and tangy. I’m going to give it a 7.5/10.”
D: “It tastes like tang on steroids. But it has a very pretty bright orange color! I’ll rate it an 8/10.”
Spring Fling by Revel Kombucha Bar:
Made with organic green tea, raw local honey, organic Gaviota strawberries, organic mint and jun culture.
L: “This one is really light and easy. I know it says it’s mostly strawberries, but I can’t really taste them. I’d give it an 8.5/10”
D: “So light and refreshing!”
OjaiPA by Revel Kombucha Bar:
Made with organic green tea, raw local honey, citra hops, and jun culture.
L: “Bombskis. It’s really citrusy and refreshing. This has to be my favorite one. I’m giving it a 10/10.”
D: “It’s pretty light. I thought the citra hops would make it super vinegary tasting, but it’s not like most kombuchas which have a harsh vinegary taste to it.”
Matcha on Nitro:
L: “I’m not a fan of this one, but I don’t like matcha to begin with.”
D: “I love matcha! This one is really good, but I don’t think I would be able to finish a whole glass in a sitting.”
